How to Stay on Top of Doing Laundry in Your Apartment

Staying on top of laundry in your apartment can be a serious chore within itself, but it does not have to be that way.

Let’s face it, no matter how much laundry we end up doing, it feels like our laundry hamper is constantly filling up. Staying on top of laundry can be a serious chore within itself, but it does not have to be that way. In fact, there are plenty of excellent tips that will help you keep the many mountains of laundry under control. Read on to learn how you can stay on top of doing laundry in your apartment unit!

Do Various Loads of Laundry a Week

Plenty of people set aside one day a week to do all of their laundries, usually on the weekends. If this sounds like you, then you may notice that you’re running out of socks by the end of the week and having to re-wear clothes. Instead, we highly recommend doing a few loads of laundry each week. When you break it up into smaller loads, you’ll have to dedicate less of your weekend to this time-consuming hassle and instead chip away at it during the weekdays. Consider doing a mid-week wash of all your essential items like socks, underwear, and your favorite pair of shorts or pants.

Set Some Timers

One of the main reasons why laundry can take forever is because we forget to move it all into the dryer or put it away once it is done. As soon as you begin your washer or dryer, then set the alarm on your phone. Once it goes off, get up and quickly do the next step in the process. If you stay on top of the timing, you’ll be able to get so much more laundry done.

Start a Load of Laundry Before Completing Anything Else

The easiest thing about laundry is that you can usually set it and forget it. You do not have to be home to have a load of clothing in your washer. In fact, we highly recommend starting the cycle before you leave your house to run errands. By the time you return, it will then be ready for the next phase.

Get Some Help

Just because you can do all the laundry does not mean you should have to. If you have any roommates and family members that you live with, ask them for help with the laundry too. Every person can be in charge of one step of the entire process, from washing and sorting to folding and drying too. With extra helping hands, the chore will get completed a lot quicker.
